Huge mountains of European textile waste are piling up in Africa and South America. To avoid this, we extend the lifespan of our clothing and reuse old textiles through upcycling and recycling .
Our TORLAND jeans are designed to last a long time and be recycled later. That's why we offer a repair service and take the jeans back at the end of their life to reuse the raw material.
In collaboration with two social sewing workshops in Vienna, we make attractive upcycling products from old jeans. Since 2023, we have also been ensuring that old jeans are recycled into new fibers so that new jeans can be made from them.
We use modern e-Flow technology to wash the jeans. Water is replaced by steam and up to 70% less water is used. The process makes the denim last longer and our nature is spared from polluted wastewater.
Fair and ethical working conditions are particularly important to us. To ensure this, we visit our manufacturers on site at regular intervals and hold discussions with the employees. In addition, our GOTS certification requires not only ecological standards, but also social standards. These are regularly checked at the manufacturing companies and include, among other things, minimum wages, social security and working time regulations.
We have created a special environmental and social statement for TORLAND as a guideline for ethical business activities. In it we have defined criteria for the manufacture of our products and our social commitment, among other things.
We completely avoid using plastic packaging for storing and shipping our products. By using very robust, ecological paper shipping bags, we reduce paper waste by up to 80% .
