What happens to unsellable goods at TORLAND?
Apr 28, 2025
The fashion industry often asks: What happens to goods that can't be sold regularly? At TORLAND, the sustainable jeans label from Vienna, we have a clear answer – and it's both environmentally and customer-friendly.
Why do some items become unsellable?
There are several reasons why clothing items can no longer be offered through regular sales. These include:
-
Remaining stock of discontinued models
-
Minor production defects on the goods
-
Exhibits from shop windows or sales areas
-
Samples and prototypes from product development
-
Returned items with minor defects
However, the results are particularly encouraging when it comes to returns: Although we have a return rate of around 30%, over 99% of returned items are completely flawless and can be resold as usual.
Our solution: Don't throw away, reuse
At TORLAND, we consistently pursue the zero-waste approach. Instead, we collect all items that are no longer available for regular sale and give them a second chance – at our monthly factory sale directly at our Vienna location.
Here, our customers can purchase clothing at particularly affordable prices, thereby simultaneously setting an example for sustainable consumption. And we can ensure that valuable resources are not wasted unnecessarily.
Factory outlet prices
Our factory outlet prices depend on whether the item has a minor defect or is simply no longer regularly sold for another reason:
-
T-shirts : from 15 euros
-
Sweaters and hoodies : from 20 euros
-
Jeans : from 29 euros
Items without defects are discounted by 30 to 50% . Items with minor defects are offered at an even lower price. Where possible, we repair the item before it goes on sale.
